The region of Gandhara, straddling what is now the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, is where the ancient Greek cultural sphere once brushed against the Buddhist heartland. And an elegant Gandharan figure of Shakyamuni Buddha, depicting the spiritual teacher with an anatomical precision more often associated with the Greek sculptor Praxiteles, will be one of the highlights of “Autumn 2022,” Asia Week New York’s nine-day-long fall festival.
