Japan Society warmly invites you to join them for the Ainu Summer Festival: Ainu Stories, Culture, and Traditions, a multi-day cultural celebration of the Ainu, the Indigenous People of Northern Japan. This special event takes place August 12-13 and will welcome over 25 artists and educators from the Ainu community in the Town of Biratori in Hokkaido, Japan to present Ainu history, food, language, customs, woodworking, embroidery, and traditional dances through a combination of workshops, tastings, lectures, screenings, and more.

Japan Society is honored to present this special event with the Town of Biratori in honor of the Centennial Anniversary of the Birth of Ainu Cultural Expert and Politician Shigeru Kayano.
