Opening Reception: Thursday, November 7 from 6-8pm
Artist Talk: Saturday, November 9 from 2-4pm
Alisan Fine Arts is pleased to present a special pop-up in their New York gallery with artist and collector Chikai Ohazama, from November 5-9.
Primarily a digital artist, Chikai works with AI to create animated ‘cinematic’ artworks that offer varied, often hidden perspectives in their composition. The overarching perspective within this body of work is an overhead, ‘bird’s-eye’ view of the landscape below – no doubt inspired in part by the artist’s experience as one of the founders of Google Earth. The duality of the seen and unseen is manifested in the work by having two different visual experiences when the pieces are viewed from a distance versus upon closer examination. Chikai’s use of generative AI is another layer of commentary about the physical versus what only exists in our minds, contemplating the nature of what is real or artificial.
