Pair of Chinese Blue an White Porcelain Clobbered "G" Bottles

Pair of Chinese Blue an White Porcelain Clobbered "G" Bottles
Kangxi period (1662-1722)
Of fine form with long and think cylindrical necks. Decorated with flower roundels and tendrils in underglaze blue. The colored decoration added as an embellishment in Europe probably in the early 19th century. The underfoot with the rare G mark in underglaze blue. This mark has been subject to discussion as perhaps a merchant’s mark or perhaps a stylized Arabic symbol.
H. 8 in. (20 cm.)
This is the only “clobbered” version of these types of vases we have encountered. As this form is quite rare and highly prized, their “clobbering” is quite remarkable.
